RESOURCES FOR
CONGREGATIONS The Arts Anew Manual is a resource that is available to anyone interested in forming an Arts Council or organizing an arts program in their congregation. This comprehensive manual is the result of an intense and successful two-year old arts program at a mid-sized Lutheran church in suburban Chicago. Good Shepherd Arts Council determined that the arts are critical to liturgical worship as worship is enhanced through visual arts of banners and symbols, music, movement, drama, and poetry. Education is an integral component of introducing new art forms to the congregation and in reaching out to the community.
Limited first editions of this bound manual were available on a first come, first serve basis. Additional information can be found on the congregation's website at www.good-shep.org. Publication of the Arts Anew Manual was made possible through a 2001 Worship Renewal Grant to Good Shepherd Arts Council from the Calvin Institute of Christian Worship, Grand Rapids, Michigan with funds provided by Lilly Endowment, Inc. Note: Our first printing of 300 copies is completely sold out. Click HERE to view/download a 1.6MB PDF file of the Arts Anew Manual. Also available is the Arts Anew Video Tape of the 2001 worship renewal arts program of the Arts Council of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd. This edited and concise 20-minute visual and musical aide serves as an appendix to the Arts Anew Manual. View the video tape to gain an understanding of how worship is enhanced through the visual arts of banners, paintings and sculpture, as well as music, movement, drama, and art education. To
